Asterix and Cleopatra

Cleopatra declares she can have a magnificent palace built in Alexandria within three months, wagering the prize on Numerobis's skill. She entrusts him with the task and promises gold if he succeeds or crocodiles if he fails. Numerobis, daunted and wary of relying on magic, accepts the challenge and sets off to Gaul to seek help.

Numerobis travels to Gaul with Panoramix, Asterix, Obelix, and Idefix to seek magical aid for the project. Panoramix agrees to return to Egypt with them and provide his potion to speed the work. Idefix insists on joining the voyage despite Asterix's objections.

On the voyage, Numerobis' party encounters a pirate ship. Asterix and Obelix board the pirates, and after a one-sided battle they scuttle the ship to prevent pursuit.

Back in Egypt, Numerobis learns his rival Amonbofis proposes a collaboration to finish the palace on time, but Numerobis refuses. Amonbofis swears vengeance and grows angrier after the aborted deal.

Amonbofis manipulates the workers, convincing them that Numerobis is exploiting them, which triggers a strike at the construction site. The disruption threatens Cleopatra's bet and Caesar's timetable, and the project stalls as tensions rise.

Panoramix provides his magic potion to the laborers, enabling them to work with astonishing speed. Progress becomes so rapid that the Gauls soon exhaust the stone supply and other resources.

With the rapid progress, the stone supply runs dry. Amonbofis bribes the supplier to dump the next shipment into the Nile, forcing the Gauls to escort a fresh cargo back.

The Gauls' trip to the Pyramids at Giza is derailed when Krukhut poses as a guide and leads them into the Great Pyramid, where they get hopelessly lost. Idefix tracks them down and rescues them from the maze.

Amonbofis and Krukhut hire the pirates seen earlier to attack the fleet returning to Alexandria. The pirate attack disrupts the voyage but the Gauls push through and continue toward their goal.

Amonbofis frames the Gauls for poisoning Cleopatra with a poisoned cake. The Gauls are thrown into the dungeon, but Panoramix carries an antidote that lets them eat the remainder of the cake to prove it harmless and cure the taster.

Caesar learns of Panoramix and the Gauls' involvement and sends three mercenaries to kidnap Panoramix and topple the cauldron. One mercenary drinks the potion and overpowers the others, capturing Panoramix.

Panoramix is delivered to Caesar and imprisoned, but Asterix and Obelix free him. Caesar, in desperation, orders the siege of the unfinished palace to crush the Gauls' resistance.

Cleopatra intervenes after learning of Caesar's siege, forcing him to lift the attack. The palace is completed on schedule, Numerobis is honoured, and the Gauls are escorted home aboard Cleopatra's luxury ship.
