After recovering, he leaves the inn with his wife and eventually becomes the renowned Northern Beggar, a legendary figure in the martial world.

His willingness to fight for minimal reward hints at his determination to rise from his desperate circumstances.

The village girl offers her mule and a basket of eggs to Ouyang in exchange for avenging her brother's death at the hands of soldiers. Ouyang rejects her plea, asking her to leave. She then stays by the inn, waiting for him to reconsider. Ouyang's refusal reflects his moral ambiguity and perhaps his desire to avoid further entanglement in others' vendettas.

This moment establishes Ouyang's isolation and refusal to be moved by others' suffering.
