In the late 19th century, brilliant but socially inept engineer Sorano Appare teams up with the cautious samurai Isshiki Kosame after becoming stranded between Japan and America. Penniless, they enter the Trans‑America Wild Race, hoping the prize will fund their return home. Traversing the United States from Los Angeles to New York in a steam‑powered car they built, they face rival racers, bandits and untamed wilderness, testing both their ingenuity and resolve.
