Sheena arrives home as her mother tells her that her father, Shekhar, has sent a letter asking to meet him because he is dying. Sheena initially refuses, remembering that he abandoned them sixteen years ago. Persuasion from her mother leads her to visit him, now under careful nursing. He hands her a diary, explaining that it records the events that fractured their family.

While in the hospital, Shekhar gives Sheena a diary that contains the incidents that led to their break-off. He struggles to say the words aloud, turning his emotions into written pages. The diary becomes the gateway to a sixteen-year-old story that Sheena has never fully understood.

Sixteen years ago, Shekhar and Nandita share a blissful life with their daughter Sheena, masking an undercurrent of discontent. Shekhar’s complacent heart sows the seeds of betrayal that will fracture the family. Dr. Kunal Mehta, a psychiatrist friend, warns him to stay away from Kavya, sensing trouble ahead.

At a hospital, Kavya Krishna, an actress with a self-inflicted wound, draws Shekhar into a dangerous attraction. The two begin to fall for each other, while Kavya laments her loneliness and seeks solace in his attention. The relationship quietly starts to undermine his marriage.

Shekhar travels to Goa for a press conference, followed by Kavya who confesses that she cannot bear her loneliness without him. He returns home to Mumbai but feels increasingly alienated, missing his daughter’s annual school function. Kavya insists that she can only be happy with him.

A journalist from Mid-Day calls to interview Shekhar, and the resulting article makes their affair a topic of public gossip. Nandita learns the truth when Kavya’s manager Shilpa spots her at a restaurant and shows the newspaper. Enraged and humiliated, Nandita confronts Shekhar, and he is angered by the damage to their family.

Nandita tries to salvage the marriage by confronting Kavya and demanding she back off. When Shekhar becomes aware of Nandita’s intervention, he loses his temper and decides to leave the house, announcing regret over his marriage. Kavya resists relinquishing him and pushes the conflict further.

Kavya demands that Shekhar choose between her and Nandita, implying she would risk everything to keep him. Torn between two women and two possible futures, Shekhar attempts to resist but finds himself drawn deeper into the affair. The couple’s relationship moves toward a breaking point.

In a moment of rage and despair, Kavya grabs a gun and shoots herself after Shekhar declares his inability to commit. He retreats to seek forgiveness from Nandita, who turns him away, deepening the family fracture. Kavya’s act leaves a scar that colors the remainder of their lives.

Shekhar returns to Nandita and pleads for forgiveness, but Nandita refuses to reconcile. The couple remains estranged as Kavya’s tragedy underscores the consequences of the affair. The rift within the family becomes permanent, shaping the years that follow.

Back in the present, Sheena reads her father’s diary and begins to understand the complexity of his life. She goes to him, and he apologizes for the past. Their embrace signals a fragile moment of forgiveness and a new, if uneasy, connection between father and daughter.

The next morning, Sheena wakes to find that her father has died. She asks him to forgive him too before his death, and she receives his apology as part of their final goodbye. The story closes with Sheena carrying the sense of loss alongside the forgiveness she granted.
