A haunting portrait of a 1950s Chicano family, seen through twelve‑year‑old Mexican‑American Marcos (Jose Alcala). He remembers his migrant‑worker family’s grueling trek from Texas to the Midwest during harvest, confronting the era’s bigotry and discovering the strength of family. The coming‑of‑age drama adapts Tomas Rivera’s semi‑autobiographical 1971 novella.
