Matt Stifler, Tad Hilgenbrink, the younger brother of Steve Stifler, is eager to join the family business of making pornographic films to prove his “Stifmeister” swagger to his older brother.
After a prank on the school band goes too far, the school’s guidance counselor Chuck “The Sherminator” Sherman punishes him by sending him to band camp. Matt arrives with a mix of defiance and curiosity, drawn in by rumors of the band camp girls’ notorious reputation, and he quickly finds that the camp’s social rules are strict and not easily bent.
On arrival, Matt clashes with the camp’s routines and people, and he drags his nerdy roommate Ernie Jason Earles into a scheme to film other band members for a cheeky project they call Bandeez Gone Wild. The plan stumbles into trouble when a scuffle in the lunchroom leads to a showdown with the rival band’s leader, Brandon Vandecamp Matt Barr. The duel becomes a showcase of talent: Brandon plays the snare drum, while Matt tackles the triangle. Just when it looks like Matt might lose, he returns to the stage wearing a kilt and playing bagpipes to the tempo of “Play That Funky Music,” a bold, if unorthodox, comeback that turns the momentum in his favor.
Amid the chaos, Matt meets Elyse Arielle Kebbel, and the two form a surprising bond that grows into a tender attraction as they share a quiet moment watching the clouds drift by. The mood at camp shifts as the East Great Falls cheerleading squad arrives just before the finals, spotting Matt in his band camp attire and threatening to expose the video footage they’ve captured. In a tense moment, Matt offers to show them his crude film to prompt deletion of the photo, but Elyse arrives soon after, hurt and disappointed when she realizes he has prioritized the video.
The band competitions proceed, with points accumulating for each group, and East Great Falls leading on the final day. A prank Matt means to pull on the rival team backfires, contributing to a disappointing result that also jeopardizes Elyse’s opportunity for a scholarship she hoped to secure through her music.
When school resumes, Matt confronts his behavior with Noah Levenstein, who explains that his circle of friends couldn’t stand his antics. This moment becomes the turning point: Matt begins to repair his mistakes by deleting the naked videos, rebuilding trust with his bandmates, and persuading the school band to perform Elyse’s piece, Instrumental of Tal Bachman’s Aeroplane, for the Conservatory head. The act of genuine collaboration helps heal old rifts and align their goals.
In the end, the disqualification of Brandon Vandecamp for blatant plagiarism clears the path for Elyse to win the scholarship, and Matt’s renewed integrity helps him win Elyse’s affection. The story closes on a note of reconciliation, growth, and the possibility of a new, more honest connection between Matt and Elyse, supported by the friends who stood by him and the talents that brought them together.
