Alan Partridge

A local radio station in Norwich, North Norfolk Digital, faces a significant change as it is acquired by a multinational conglomerate. The new owners plan to re-brand the station as 'Shape', leading to uncertainty among the staff about job security and potential redundancies.

DJ Alan Partridge remains largely unconcerned about the impending changes at the station. His colleague, DJ Pat Farrell, however, is deeply worried about losing his job and approaches Alan for help to prevent redundancies.

During a critical board meeting, Alan discovers that either he or Pat must be let go. In a moment of self-preservation, he betrays Pat by writing 'JUST SACK PAT' on the flipchart, leading to Pat's eventual dismissal from the station.

That evening, during a party hosted by the new owners, Pat enters the station armed with a shotgun and takes the staff hostage. This sudden escalation turns into a standoff that places the station and its employees in peril.

As chaos erupts inside, Alan attempts to escape by returning to the party, where he is shot at by Pat. In a panic, he commandeers a nearby car and makes a desperate drive to the police station to report the situation.

The police quickly involve Alan, asking him to serve as a negotiator in the hostage situation. They set up a command center nearby and send him back into the station to communicate with Pat, hoping to resolve the crisis peacefully.

Inside the station, Alan manages to establish an uneasy rapport with Pat, who reveals his desire to regain his job. During the standoff, Alan and Simon broadcast an on-and-off radio show, attempting to maintain a semblance of normalcy.

Alan starts hallucinating about being a hero capable of ending the siege. Despite his fantasies, he struggles with taking any real action against Pat, who remains holding the hostages while seeking understanding.

The police realize Alan is ineffective as a negotiator and plan to send in an undercover officer disguised as a pizza delivery man. However, Alan intervenes and takes the pizzas himself, which inadvertently escalates the situation further.

Inside the pizza boxes, Alan finds a taser, which creates tension among the hostages. As an argument erupts, the police take this opportunity to storm the building, aiming to take control of the situation.

As the standoff escalates during the police raid, Pat manages to escape with Alan and another friend, Michael, in the station's tour bus. While on the run, they continue to host their radio show, maintaining a connection with their audience.

While reminiscing about their past, Pat discovers Alan's betrayal written on the flipchart. Realizing that Alan was responsible for his redundancy, Pat's trust disintegrates, leading to a confrontation between the two.

The movie reaches its climax on Cromer Pier, where Pat confronts Alan and the police. Amidst the tension, Michael tries to distract Pat by throwing himself off the pier, but it ultimately fails to change the course of events.

In a moment of vulnerability, Pat hands his shotgun to Alan but struggles with his own despair. Alan throws the gun aside, only to be accidentally shot by a police sniper, leading to further chaos as Lynn fears for Alan's life.

The film concludes with Alan returning to North Norfolk Digital along with Simon, now somewhat traumatized by the events. Alan has also begun a new relationship with Angela, leaving the past behind and looking toward a different future.
