Age of Tomorrow

In 2015, the Mimics land in Germany and swiftly overrun large parts of continental Europe, killing millions. The human response is fragmented and slow, setting the stage for a long, brutal conflict across the continent.

By 2020, nations unite to form the United Defense Force (UDF) to coordinate anti-Mimic operations. They develop new tactics, equipment, and strategies in a bid to reclaim Europe and push back the invasion.

Rita Vrataski, a celebrated war hero, secures a decisive victory at Verdun, boosting morale and proving the Mimics’ power. The victory is used as propaganda to show the enemy’s strength and to encourage overconfidence in their exoskeleton tech.

General Brigham forces public affairs officer Major William Cage into front-line duty. Cage is arrested, demoted to private, and sent to Heathrow to join the invasion with J-Squad.

The Allied invasion lands on a French beach but is ambushed by Mimics. Cage kills an Alpha with a Claymore, but dies in the ensuing explosion, his body bathed in the creature's blood before the loop resets.

Cage awakens back at Heathrow, realizing he has relived the morning. He tries unsuccessfully to warn others, and each loop ends with his death on the beach, while his combat skills and battlefield knowledge grow with every repetition.

Cage's persistence catches Rita Vrataski's attention. She confirms that the loop power is real, having gained it after exposure to an Alpha's blood, and agrees to train him to maximize the loop advantage.

Cage and Vrataski learn the Mimics are controlled by a single Omega. A recurring vision places the Omega beneath a German dam, so they set out to locate and confront it while their bond grows amid caution and grief.

During the dam quest, Vrataski is killed by a Mimic, driving Cage to continue the mission alone in the next loop. He fights on at the dam and faces an Alpha, ultimately drowning but not losing his time-loop power.

Cage and Vrataski break into General Brigham's office to seize a prototype transponder. They use it to pinpoint the Omega’s location beneath the Louvre Pyramid in Paris, setting the stage for the final confrontation.

The J-Squad sacrifices themselves to ensure Cage and Vrataski reach the Omega. An Alpha confronts them at the Louvre; Vrataski sacrifices herself, allowing Cage to trigger grenades that destroy the Omega and bathe him in its blood, restoring his power.

Cage wakes back at Heathrow before his first meeting with Brigham. A news report claims all Mimics are dead after a mysterious energy surge in Paris. He then returns to Heathrow to find Vrataski waiting, who does not recognize him, ending the cycle with a quiet, ambiguous note.
