Adult Swim Yule Log 2: Branchin’ Out

Following the previous film, Zoe survives an attack from the yule log, but her partner Alex is killed during the event. Police dismiss Zoe's claims about the supernatural origins of the log, believing it to be a malicious creature named Pleatherface. The yule log escapes from evidence and causes an explosion that destroys Alex's video evidence, deepening Zoe's trauma.

Zoe experiences a panic attack during a client meeting, leading to her being fired from her job at the Coral Conservancy. Her friend Jakesy comforts her and encourages her to take a vacation, aiming to escape her haunted past by visiting a cheerful holiday town. This marks the beginning of her attempt to find peace away from her traumatic memories.

While driving, Santa uses his magic to stall their car in the small town of Mistletoe, which shifts from a bleak horror setting to a bright, festive Christmas environment. The town prepares for its annual Yule Log Festival, featuring cheerful music, colorful lights, and a joyful atmosphere, contrasting sharply with the horror scenes Zoe left behind.

Zoe encounters Birt, a widower running Savannah's Christmas Ornaments with his family, and Beauregard, a wealthy influencer who owns a rival ornament store. Birt shares his grief over his late wife Savannah, and Zoe opens up about her own loss, beginning to bond emotionally with him amid the holiday cheer.

Birt supports Zoe through her trauma and believes that the destroyed yule log might have been eradicated in the explosion. He helps Zoe confront her fears using an EMDR-like device, which assists her in feeling more cheerful and open to embracing the holiday spirit and new connections.

Zoe immerses herself in the Christmas festivities by helping at the ornament store and staying with Birt and his family. She discovers Savannah's long-lost shrimp fudge recipe and successfully recreates it, which causes coral ornaments to grow when spilled, revealing a magical connection to the town's holiday spirit.

Despite efforts to destroy it, a splinter of the yule log survives and lodges into Nana's hand. Zoe experiences visions inside a freezer where Tiny Nana tells her that love's remains are the only way to defeat hate, foreshadowing the upcoming battle against the evil log.

On Christmas Day, the yule log emerges from Nana's body in a gruesome scene, transforming her into a log creature. The creature then infests and ignites the town's logs, leading to a massacre of the citizens. Zoe and Birt fight desperately to contain the chaos while chaos and horror engulf the festive town.

Remembering Nana's advice, Zoe and Birt declare their love and throw Savannah and Alex's ashes over the creature, which causes the spirits of the deceased to destroy the log. The town begins to recover as the evil log is defeated and the horror subsides amid festive relief.

Zoe decides to leave Mistletoe, but Birt rebrands his store into a museum celebrating the massacre and holiday spirit, gaining fame. Zoe plans to start a new life with Birt, feeling renewed after her ordeal and haunted yet hopeful for the future.

As Zoe and Birt celebrate, Jaxon secretly applies Savannah's fudge to a twig, hinting at the possibility of revival. Suddenly, the palette shifts back to horror, and creatures like the Little Man, aliens, and cultists from the first film begin to descend upon the store, signaling that the terror is not truly over.
