The final episode folds the investigation back onto the family that raised the boy who killed Katie. Eddie, Manda and their daughter Lisa set out to celebrate Eddie’s 50th birthday, trying to act normal despite the van painted with a slur that has haunted them since the murder. A quick stop at the mall to buy paint turns unsettling when an employee, Quint, recognizes Eddie and admits he’s been following Jamie’s case online. He confesses that he “roots for Jamie,” insinuating that Katie deserved to die—a chilling reminder that the hatred that drove Jamie is echoed in strangers outside the household.

Back in the parking lot, Eddie finally confronts the two teenagers who defaced the van. He roughs them up, forcing them to feel the weight of their “joking” cruelty, and then splashes the fresh paint over the hateful words. The family drives home in tense silence, their festive plans dissolved.
