In the final act the collapse of the Kiruna mine forces Frigga, her two children and the men who have entered their lives to race against a widening sink‑hole that has swallowed the old town’s school. Simon is trapped on a precarious ledge beside the void, while Mika clings to the wreckage. Frigga grabs a fire‑hose, threads it through the debris and uses it to pull her son toward safety, but the metal pipe cuts her leg, causing her to bleed heavily.

At that moment the edge of the hole begins to give way. With the ground cracking beneath them, Frigga, Simon and Mika scramble onto a thin steel scaffold hanging from a loose cable. Tage, despite having just learned that Frigga is moving on with Dabir, throws himself onto the fraying wires, holding them long enough for his family to climb back to solid ground. The strain is too much; the cables snap and Tage is thrown into the abyss, giving his life so that his children can survive.

Rescue teams arrive moments later, hauling the wounded Frigga and her children to an ambulance. Dabir, who has been waiting outside, watches her through the rain‑splattered windows. Though he still hesitates about proposing, the silence between them is broken by a faint smile on Frigga’s face, a quiet acceptance that they will face the future together.

The film closes with the surviving townspeople boarding buses to the newly built settlement, leaving the ruined old Kiruna behind. Frigga, now a widow but alive, is left to raise Simon and Mika in the fresh town while slowly rebuilding her life with Dabir at her side.
