Raised in a poor Pennsylvania mining town, Pete Grey loses his right arm as a child. Encouraged by his immigrant parents, his father and older brother coach him to pursue a baseball career. Fueled by anger, Pete reaches the major leagues, and when he visits a handicapped fan who idolizes him, he discovers true heroism.
