A Kiss in the Dark

Peter Danilo, Eric's former financial adviser, used Eric's own funds to purchase the building as an investment without Eric's knowledge or consent. This betrayal is revealed when Eric returns home after 21 years on the road and receives a warrant to repair the building, forcing him to confront the financial deception.

Eric initially fires Horace, the former owner and manager, after a building inspector declares the repairs insufficient and Eric blames Horace for the shoddy work. However, Polly defends Horace, explaining he is a good man who was forced to sell. Overcome with remorse, Eric rehires Horace to lead the repairs, recognizing his genuine intent to help.

Combined with his growing love for Polly, Eric becomes more hands-on with the building project and the community, prioritizing the relationship and the collaborative repair effort over his previous touring lifestyle.
