The adaptation follows Lőrinc Parcen Nagy from Tibor Déry’s 1,200‑page novel. Born into an upper‑middle‑class family, he endures two violent deaths—the suicide of his father and the murder of an innocent worker. Disgusted, he breaks with his weak‑hearted mother, who abandoned her husband, and cannot find his tone with colleagues or his lover, an illegal party worker.
