Set in 17th‑century Japan, where sword fighting is outlawed, a talented swordsman rebels against the ban. His brother stays silent. In a rage he mutilates an enemy by cutting off his thumbs, earning exile. To survive he turns to theft. To restore their family's honor, the brother is forced to duel his outlaw sibling.
