Yankee Doodle Bugs

Clyde is lying on the floor doing his history homework, confused by important dates and facts. Frustrated, he exclaims 'I give up!' as he tries to understand the events he's studying. His uncle Bugs offers to help by explaining American history through humorous anecdotes.

Bugs describes that Manhattan was once filled with Indian teepees, contrasting it with today's bustling city. He also mentions that the Statue of Liberty was just a little girl at the time, emphasizing how much the city has changed over the years.

Bugs interacts with Benjamin Franklin on the day he discovers electricity. Franklin asks Bugs to watch his kite and key, and during a lightning storm, the kite is struck, shocking Bugs. Franklin then proclaims, 'I discovered electricity!' while Bugs humorously comments on the discovery.

Bugs explains the Boston Tea Party, showing the King ordering a worker to add tacks to colonists' tea. However, instead of tacks, he orders 'tea tacks', leading to their refusal to drink the tacked tea. Bugs notes how this event contributed to the formation of the American Army.

George Washington receives a letter announcing he has been drafted. He quickly rushes on horseback to the Candy Shoppe, leaving Martha to manage alone, while shouting 'Charge!' as he heads off to fight in the war.

Bugs visits Betsy Ross, who is sewing the American flag. He comments that something is missing in the blue field. When Bugs steps on a rake, the handle hits his head, forming a circle of stars. Betsy then sews stars into the blue part of the flag.

The enemy storming Bunker Hill is surprised when a cannon fires just as they approach, causing their uniforms and weapons to be tattered. The enemy then turns and retreats in disarray.

Bugs explains the harsh conditions at Valley Forge, including 6 feet of snow and frigid temperatures. An ice cream truck is shown being fired upon and exploding, illustrating the severe hardships faced by soldiers.

Bugs shows George Washington steering a motorboat across the Delaware River, with the enemy fleet bottled up in harbor. This depicts the famous Revolutionary War crossing as part of the strategic victory.

After explaining these historical events, Bugs urges Clyde to remember what he has learned as the school bell rings. Bugs then rushes Clyde off to school, emphasizing the importance of the lesson.

Later in the day, Clyde comes home with a sour expression and a dunce cap, humorously indicating he didn't perform well on his history exam. Bugs asks about his performance, teasing him about his understanding of history.
