Magdy, a cartoonist residing with his uncle in Cairo, grapples with significant weight challenges and disordered eating habits. His life is colored by friendships with numerous women who regard him more as one of their own rather than a potential romantic partner. Deep down, he longs for someone who can look beyond his physical appearance and appreciate the person he truly is inside.
Through the magic of social media, he rekindles a connection with Dina, a girl from his past whom he had a crush on during his slimmer days. Their communication, however, is unique because they do not share pictures of one another. Dina informs Magdy that she will soon return to Egypt and would like to meet up. When she arrives and asks him to pick her up from the airport, he harbors secret worries about her attractiveness. To his surprise, upon seeing her beauty firsthand, he falters in his confidence. Instead of revealing his true identity, he introduces himself as Adel, Magdy's cousin, claiming that Magdy has traveled abroad.
With assistance from his female friends, Magdy attempts to win Dina's affection while disguised as Adel, supporting her through family responsibilities, including a funeral, and other errands, always under the guise of pretending to be someone he is not. To maintain this charade, he even acquires a second mobile phone for conversations, ensuring that Dina remains oblivious to his true identity.
As their relationship evolves, Magdy feels a connection growing and genuinely believes they are falling in love. Meanwhile, a classmate named Hamada, now a prosperous businessman, dismisses Magdy's proposal to create a political satire magazine featuring his artwork, primarily due to concern about Magdy's unhealthy condition.
The romantic escapades between Magdy and Dina continue until a humiliating incident occurs at the cinema when he is ejected for blocking the view due to his size. A meaningful birthday celebration for his uncle follows, culminating in a proposal from Magdy through an artistic showcase, only for Dina to turn him down, revealing that her interest stemmed from a college project analyzing the lives of overweight individuals.
Receiving a stark reminder from his uncle to prioritize his health—an admonition he protests but internally feels—the uncle later calls Magdy with distressing news of his illness. Rushing to his sides, Magdy faces a traumatic car accident before reaching his uncle, who shares a poignant farewell, saying, “Get thin, Magdy.”
Consequently, Magdy embarks on a rigorous journey towards fitness, embracing a strict diet and exercise plan under Hamada's guidance. A turning point occurs when he, filled with newfound resolve, declares, “I’m not hungry! I'm not hungry!” while dashing through the rain, symbolizing his awakening.
Fast forward two years later, Magdy has transformed dramatically; he is now thin and about to launch his political satire magazine, appearing almost unrecognizable to those he once knew. As an animated series based on his work is unveiled to the public, the Fitness Coach announces him as the artist, leading to widespread astonishment. The film concludes with a heartwarming scene of Magdy reuniting with Dina, who is now more open to a deeper commitment, but just as prospects seem bright, his stomach rumbles audibly, and he humorously admits, “I want to eat.”
