Begins with a sun materializing in empty space. The first of three sequences pairs music with natural images—sky, trees, leaves, a bird, water, sand, a beach—as a boy wanders the shore and peers into a house. The silent second sequence features a narrator describing sculptor Alexander Calder while we watch him cut and form distinctive shapes in his workshop. The final sequence returns to music, intercutting Calder’s mobiles with nature, suggesting his inspiration, and ends as it started, the sun fading into the sky.
