Filmmaker Victor Kossakovsky explores the design and construction of buildings throughout history in this poetic meditation on architecture. Centering on a landscape project by Italian architect Michele de Lucci, the film uses the circle as a recurring motif to reflect on the rise and fall of civilizations. Breathtaking imagery spans from the ancient temple ruins of Baalbek in Lebanon to the recent devastation in Turkey following a powerful earthquake. The film connects disparate societies through stone and rock, examining humanity’s grandeur and its fragile relationship with the natural world. It raises a timely question: how can we build a better future?
