Wolf Girl

Tara is part of a financially struggling traveling freak show circus and works as the Wolf Girl because of her hypertrichosis. She is beloved by her fellow performers but routinely ostracized by local teens in the towns they visit.

In their latest town, Tara meets Ryan, a teenage boy whose mother is working on an experimental depilatory treatment. He helps Tara obtain the drug by stealing it from his mother's lab. This marks the start of a dangerous dependency that will pull Tara deeper into trouble.

Tara experiences noticeable hair loss as the depilatory drug takes effect. She also begins to have strange dreams and feral-like behaviors, unsettling the people around her.

Harley, the circus host, notices that crowds respond more fearsome acts, and the show grows financially stable as a result. The improvement in fortunes helps the troupe overlook Tara's changing condition for now.

One of the town bullies, Beau, confronts Tara after she uncovers his secret. He tries to kill her, and Tara ends up killing him in self defense; his body is later found by townspeople. The incident strengthens the town's fear of the Wolf Girl.

With supplies dwindling, Tara is forced to steal additional doses, since Ryan admits he cannot obtain more without raising suspicion from his mother. The dependence on the drug deepens as Tara's cravings grow stronger.

Under the drug's influence, Tara attacks Harley during the circus show, shattering the illusion of safety for the audience. The chaos triggers the lynch mob mentality among the townspeople.

The town forms a lynch mob convinced that Tara is a real monster. Tara flees into the forest, shedding her clothes as she escapes, and her feral nature takes over in the wilderness.

In the forest, Tara ambushes Krystal, ripping out her tongue in a brutal encounter. Ryan finds her there and attempts to soothe her, but she notices he is carrying a gun.

As her humanity slips away, Tara pleads with Ryan to shoot her. He refuses, leaving her to face a grim, uncertain fate.

A wolf appears in the forest and a gunshot rings out as the scene cuts away. The moment cements the townspeople's belief that Tara is a true werewolf.

The circus leaves town without Tara, continuing the show elsewhere. The townspeople hold onto their memory of the Wolf Girl, satisfied that their fears were warranted.

It is revealed that Ryan shot the wolf and turned in its corpse, convincing the townspeople that Tara's werewolf status was real. The truth of Tara's humanity remains hidden behind their conviction.

The film ends with Tara, feral and naked, walking on all fours through the woods. She is free from hypertrichosis but pays the ultimate price of losing her humanity.
