Witching and Bitching

Two men, José and Antonio, rob a pawn shop in Madrid. The plan falls apart when Antonio resents that his son Sergio is involved, putting everyone at risk. The robbery ends in gunfire and several bystanders are killed as they flee with their loot.

The group hijacks a taxi and forces the driver, Manuel, to drive north toward France. They stash an unwilling passenger in the trunk and use the fear to push toward the border. The pursuit by police and worried relatives closes in behind them.

The fugitives are tracked to Zugarramurdi in Navarre where they encounter a coven of cannibalistic witches led by Graciana. Graciana's mother Maritxu tries to cook Sergio in her oven, heightening the danger. The encounter turns violent and dangerous for the escapees.

The group manages a fragile escape from the witches but is forced to retreat and is swiftly captured again by the coven. The witches tighten their grip while the men realize how powerless they are against magical forces. The threat to Sergio becomes immediate and dire.

Silvia locates the witches' house and enlists police help to break in, hoping to rescue the captives and recover Sergio. The plan unfolds amid creeping dread as the coven watches from hidden corners. The raid sets off a chaotic confrontation between humans and witches.

During the break-in, José, Antonio, and Manuel escape, but Silvia and the two cops are captured. Silvia is transformed into a witch using tainted toad juice, shifting the balance of power to the coven. The capture deepens the danger for the remaining fugitives.

The three men are captured by the witches; José survives only through the intervention of Graciana's daughter Eva, who has fallen for him. Eva's actions complicate loyalties within the coven and provide a fragile chance at escape. The others remain trapped for now.

Eva urges José to flee with her, but he refuses to abandon his son. With help from Eva's brother Luismi, José makes his way toward the ritual chamber. They push through danger and deception as they travel deeper into the coven's lair.

Along the way they free Eva, who had been buried alive by her mother for betrayal, and press on toward the ritual chamber. The trio confronts increasing resistance from the coven as they advance. The ritual chamber looms as the witches prepare for a final confrontation.

In the ritual chamber, Antonio, Manuel, Pacheco, and Calvo are burned on a pyre, and Graciana's grotesque goddess rises. The emergence of the goddess signals the apocalyptic scale of the coven's power. Sergio's fate becomes inseparable from the goddess's appetite.

The goddess devours Sergio, who somehow passes through the giant and emerges alive on the other side. The miraculous escape defies expectations and shows Sergio's growing powers. The moment is a turning point that changes Jose's resolve.

José confronts the witches with Eva's help, who manages to cause the goddess's destruction. The coven's power collapses and José escapes the chaos with Sergio, Eva, and the remaining men. The battle ends with the family escaping into a fragile safety.

One month later, José and Eva are a couple raising Sergio, who is already showing signs of his powers. Silvia, Graciana, and Maritxu survive and seem content to wait for the couple to grow discontented with happiness. The ending hints at an uneasy peace rather than a resolution.
