In the summer of 1990, rebellious native leader Eddie Laroche declares the independence of the Aki territory in northern Quebec, refusing to negotiate unless his people are filmed. Reporter Jean Fontaine, assigned to cover the crisis, boards a boat with negotiators and a film crew. Initially cynical, his interviews with the passengers reveal the conflict’s complexity, reshaping his view as the story unfolds.
