Winchester

Following the tragic death of her husband, William Wirt Winchester, and their daughter Annie, Sarah Winchester is overwhelmed by grief. She isolates herself from the outside world, wearing black and covering her face with a veil, signaling her profound sorrow.

Sarah receives more than $20 million in inheritance along with a majority stake in the Winchester company. Convinced that she is cursed by the restless spirits of those killed by Winchester firearms, she feels compelled to act in response to this perceived haunting.

Seeking a new beginning, Sarah relocates to San Jose, California. She purchases an eight-room house and begins what will become an extensive and enigmatic construction project that will last for two decades.

The construction of the Winchester Mystery House is initiated. Sarah commits herself to expanding the mansion endlessly, creating a confusing labyrinth of rooms, halls, and staircases, with no master plan in place.

Sarah's relative, Marion Marriott, and her son Henry move in with Sarah at the house. It soon becomes apparent that Henry is being possessed by a sinister entity, and he ominously points to the sealed attic, warning that 'he is coming for us'.

In 1906, the Board of Directors of the Winchester company hires Dr. Eric Price to assess Sarah's mental health, questioning her ability to manage the company. Aware of his assignment, Sarah nonetheless allows Eric to stay at the house as she confronts her own demons.

Dr. Price arrives at the mansion deeply troubled and reliant on drugs due to the grief from his wife Ruby's death. His first interactions with the house lead him to witness unsettling visions and ghostly encounters, including saving the possessed Henry from a fall.

During his assessment, Sarah reveals her fear of spirits and her knowledge of the tragic past tied to her rifles. She maintains detailed records of individuals who were killed by Winchester firearms, highlighting her internal struggle with her husband's legacy.

Eric discovers that he had previously been shot and killed by a Winchester rifle, and explains how Sarah's connection to the spirits guides her constructions. She feels the spirits dictate the rooms she builds, and the spirits are integral to their unfinished business.

As the haunting intensifies, a possessed Henry attempts to kill Sarah with a rifle but is halted by Eric and Marion. Recognizing the severity of the spirit's aggression, Sarah decides to confront the force threatening her family directly.

Sarah and Eric identify a ghost, Benjamin Block, who was tormented by the trauma of losing his brothers during the Civil War. This ghost has been possessing Henry, leading to a violent chain of events linked to past tragedies.

The infamous 1906 San Francisco earthquake strikes, wreaking havoc throughout the mansion. The chaos erupts into a complete separation of Eric and Sarah, and Henry escapes his confinement amid the turmoil.

Amidst the earthquake's destruction, Eric is haunted by the ghost of his wife Ruby, who shares her story of being misunderstood as delusional. Their reunion inspires Eric to reaffirm his commitment to helping Sarah stabilize her increasingly fraught situation.

With the climax approaching, Eric and Sarah manage to corner the ghost of Ben, utilizing Eric’s connection to the spirit realm. In a tense confrontation, they wield the bullet that has significant power over Ben and banish him, restoring peace.

With the spirits pacified and her sanity confirmed, Sarah declares her intent to continue building rooms to help others. However, as the restoration commences, a nail falls from a board sealing the spirit's room, hinting that their mysteries may never be fully contained.
