Shizuku, a 14-year-old creative writing enthusiast, lives in Tokyo with her family. She spends her days navigating the challenges of junior high while nurturing her literary passions with her best friend, Yūko.

While exploring her library's checkout cards, Shizuku repeatedly encounters the name Seiji Amasawa. This discovery piques her curiosity about the boy behind the name, setting off a series of events that will change her life.

Shizuku finds herself irritated by a boy's teasing about her original lyrics, which are inspired by 'Take Me Home, Country Roads'. This teasing forms the backdrop for their evolving relationship.

One evening, a chance encounter with a cat leads Shizuku to an enchanting antique shop. The shop, owned by Shirō Nishi, features a statuette of a cat known as The Baron, inspiring Shizuku's imagination.

During a follow-up visit to the antique shop, Shizuku meets Seiji, who introduces her to his workshop. There, they share a beautiful moment, performing 'Take Me Home, Country Roads', deepening their bond.

In this creative space, Seiji shares his dream of becoming a luthier, showcasing his dedication to music. This revelation captivates Shizuku, who admires his passion and talent.

Seiji announces his departure for Cremona, Italy, where he will study under a master violin maker. His departure inspires Shizuku to dedicate her time to writing while he’s away.

Determined to make the most of Seiji's absence, Shizuku begins crafting a narrative featuring The Baron. She promises to share her story with Nishi, who supports her creative endeavors.

As Shizuku writes, she envisions herself as the protagonist alongside The Baron, who seeks his love, Louise. However, her commitment to this story comes at the cost of her school grades, leading to family tension.

After Shizuku completes her story, Nishi provides honest feedback that triggers an emotional release for her. His comforting tale about The Baron and his past adds depth to her creative process.

Realizing the importance of her education, Shizuku decides to prepare for her high school entrance exams, taking her future seriously. This decision marks a turning point in her ambition and maturity.

The next day, Shizuku is pleasantly surprised to find Seiji back from Italy earlier than expected. They reconnect and share their experiences, reinvigorating their friendship.

Seiji and Shizuku embark on a bike ride together, climbing to a scenic lookout where they admire the sunrise. This romantic moment deepens their bond as they embrace the beauty around them.

During their time at the lookout, Seiji reveals his feelings for Shizuku, expressing his desire to marry her in the future. Shizuku joyfully accepts this declaration, marking a new chapter in their relationship.
