A Bronx working girl becomes entangled in an elaborate extortion scheme after a gang of sophisticated con men kidnap her and force her, due to her striking resemblance, to pose as a wealthy socialite. The story is adapted from E.V. Cunningham’s (Howard Fast’s) novel “Shirley.”
