Set in West 11, a London district with passion, vice and violence, the story follows 22‑year‑old Joe Beckett, a restless son of modest parents who calls himself an ‘emotional leper.’ He seeks a violent jolt to feel alive and accepts a stranger’s commission to murder an unknown victim after meeting him in a café, plunging him into a world of gloom.
