A mysterious woman attacked Nick at the hotel, attempting to drug and stab him while declaring that those who pry for truth "think they can just come here and take it away from us." The pyramid-shaped structure was built by an ancient alien race that embedded the world's psychic energy within it. Sylvia translated the carvings revealing this origin, explaining that the pyramid served as a repository for immense psychic power that could be accessed by those who understood its secrets.

Nick learned by touching the pyramid that the great Incan-like civilization that built around it was destroyed when its people used the pyramid's psychic power against each other. The very force they sought to control became a weapon that wiped them out, demonstrating the destructive potential of misusing such power.
