Versus

In 10th-century Japan, a lone samurai fends off a horde of zombie-like warriors. After a brutal skirmish, a mysterious priest and his league confront him. The samurai charges, is killed, and as he dies he glimpses an ally behind him arriving too late to save him.

In present-day Japan, two prisoners escape through a forest and run into a gang of Yakuza. They spy a girl the gang has kidnapped, triggering KSC2-303's suspicion about the gang's plan. Tensions rise as the prisoners interact with the gang and the danger becomes clear.

After an argument, KSC2-303 kills one of the Yakuza members, who immediately resurrects as a zombie. The chaos draws in more of the gang and the forest becomes a battleground as the undead surge forward.

The surviving duo comes across a dead man crucified on a tree. KSC2-303 steals the corpse's clothes and is confronted by a Yakuza combatant. They clash in close quarters while more corpses buried in the forest begin to rise.

The corpses of the men they have killed and buried in the forest rise to attack. Facing the undead, KSC2-303 and the Yakuza are forced to put aside their differences and team up to fight the onslaught.

With the horde pressing in, the Yakuza summon three assassins and the gang's leader, The Man, arrives furious that KSC2-303 and The Girl are still at large. The group initially defeats The Man, but he miraculously revives and coerces the assassins and Yakuza into his own new army.

Two assassins escape from The Man’s control and track down KSC2-303 and The Girl. One is defeated by The Girl using a log; the other is confronted by The Man and killed, further cementing The Man’s control over the others.

The Man corners KSC2-303 and The Girl, revealing that they are reincarnations of past lives. He intends to use The Girl as a sacrifice to open the portal in The Forest of Resurrection and obtain the power of darkness. In a desperate moment, KSC2-303 attempts to kill him but is killed instead.

While unconscious, KSC2-303 relives a past life in the 10th century, discovering he was the ally who failed to save the samurai and the princess. He realizes The Girl was a princess and that The Man was the priest. In that life, he killed The Girl to stop The Man, and The Man killed him.

The next morning, KSC2-303 faces The Man and his minions in the forest. He defeats the minions one by one, ultimately decapitates The Man, and rescues The Girl as they make their escape from the Forest of Resurrection.

Ninety-nine years pass and Earth lies in ruins. The Man's reincarnation traverses the ruined city and confronts KSC2-303 alongside the reincarnated gang members who now serve him. The Girl is held captive and laments that she should have aligned with The Man back then.

With nothing left to destroy, The Man and KSC2-303 clash in a final battle. They charge at each other through the rubble as the story leaves their fates unresolved, embodying the cycle of reincarnation and power that began in The Forest of Resurrection.
