The story revolves around four close friends—Kalindi, Kalindi Puri, Avni, Sakshi, and Meera—each facing unique challenges related to relationships, family expectations, and personal desires. Kalindi has been living with her boyfriend, Rishabh’s (Manoj Pahwa), in Australia for two years. She struggles with a deep-seated fear of marriage, largely shaped by her turbulent family history—her father, Kishan (Anjum Rajabali), remarried soon after her mother’s death, and her estrangement from her family. When Rishabh proposes, Kalindi is caught off guard but eventually agrees, wanting to make him happy. However, her visit to Delhi to prepare for their wedding reveals her discomfort with traditional rituals, religious ceremonies, and the heavy emphasis on family and social expectations that she feels will threaten her independence.

Her family members, including her uncle Kuki, his partner, and her parents, try to support her, but she remains distant and skeptical of their involvement. Meanwhile, Rishabh’s family is warm, supportive, and rooted in their traditions, which intensifies Kalindi’s apprehension. Her friends—Avni, Sakshi, and Meera—are also navigating their own relationship issues.

The engagement party quickly turns chaotic. Avni, the dedicated divorce lawyer, becomes intoxicated and is caught sleeping with Rishabh’s cousin, Bhandari, which causes a major scandal. Sakshi, newly divorced and living with her parents, leaves the party upset after rude gossip and insensitive remarks. Meera, who has married an American, John, and has a son named Kabir, faces familial tensions as her father disapproves of her intercultural marriage.

The following day, the friends gather at Kalindi’s childhood home, leading to heartfelt conversations. Rishabh apologizes to Kalindi, but she admits she cannot live up to his family’s expectations. They decide to end their engagement on amicable terms, recognizing their own differences and fears. Kalindi highlights her friends’ flaws during an emotional argument, and the group realizes they must confront their personal issues head-on.

To reconnect, they embark on a vacation to Thailand, where they open up about their struggles. Their shared efforts eventually lead to reconciliation, culminating in her family agreeing to transfer the family house to Kalindi.
