Vinod Jai Sampath is a young man whose life takes an unexpected turn when Subiksha Andrea Jeremiah abruptly blocks his path in the subway, proposes to him, and then vanishes. He initially treats it as a joke, but over the coming week he starts to wonder if she was serious, and he begins to wait in the subway each day, hoping for a sign. Subiksha does not appear there, yet she makes quiet appearances at his workplace and in the room of his friend where he stays, and each time he arrives too late to meet her.

When Vinod and Subiksha finally reconnect, she reveals that they had already met at a party where a mutual friend asked her to drop him off at his place because he was very drunk. This moment happens on her birthday, though Vinod does not remember the incident. Subiksha’s memory of that night complicates his feelings, and his urge to pursue her only grows stronger even as she treats his advances with caution.

Vinod answers Subiksha’s proposal with a hesitation that gradually turns to persistence. She makes it clear that she once “messed with him” for his behavior on the night she dropped him off, and she sets a condition: if Vinod fights Ashwin Ranjith, an international boxing champion, she will return his love. To prove himself, Vinod dives into boxing training, learning how to punch and block, enduring a string of early losses but gradually finding his footing. He plans to confront Ashwin head-on and records the fight on his phone to show Subiksha what he is capable of. After the bout, Vinod takes Ashwin’s silver medal and tells him to keep it, a bold symbol of victory that circles back to be a test of resolve rather than mere pride. At a shopping mall, Vinod is happily with his family when Ashwin sits on a hot dog, spurring him to publicly insult Vinod and Raghuraman and forcing Raghuraman to rub away the hot dog cream with his shirt in front of onlookers. The humiliation creates a rift between Vinod and his father, and Vinod retreats from the person he once trusted. Raghuraman is Subiksha’s colleague, and this painful memory is something she shares to illuminate Vinod’s resolve and the reason she believed in him enough to stand by his side. She also reveals that she knew Vinod is Raghuraman’s son on the day of the party when she checked his purse and saw a family photo.

Meanwhile, at a public press meet for Ashwin, the media circles around the fight video. Raghuraman arrives and calls Vinod to the stage, inviting him to confront Ashwin in front of the cameras. With Subiksha by his side, Vinod faces his father’s hopes and the escalating pressure of the moment. When he arrives, Raghuraman confirms that he saw Vinod’s victory, and the elder man’s joy spills over as he urges Vinod to fight in front of the press. Subiksha tells Raghuraman that she loves Vinod, and Selvi—Vinod’s mother—watches the moment on TV and smiles at the sight of her son. The fight unfolds with Ashwin initially having the upper hand, but Vinod’s determination turns the tide. He lands a powerful sequence that swings the outcome in his favor, defeating Ashwin in a climactic confrontation.

In the aftermath, Vinod speaks to the press about forgiveness, wondering aloud whether forgiving the man who beat him could be the right thing.
