In 1960s West Germany, a generation struggled to confront the nation's Nazi past, leading to a deep divide with their parents regarding identity and political beliefs. The student movement gained momentum in 1966, quickly escalating into clashes and acts of violence. This period of intense social and political upheaval saw the emergence of key figures such as Ulrike Meinhof, Andreas Baader, and Gudrun Ensslin, who would later become central to the formation of the Red Army Faction, a radical group seeking revolutionary change.
