Philippe and Daniel decide to vacation in Southeast Asia. While there they encounter Hans, a European who has settled in the region and quickly becomes their guide and host, showing them around. When the holiday ends and they prepare to return to Paris, they resolve to thank Hans with a modest gift—a small piece of hashish.
