The film opens with a poignant slideshow narrated by Ebet, a ten-year-old boy living in Manila’s crowded Tondo district. Through his gaze, the movie sketches a world where poverty and crime press in on everyday life, yet where a young person still imagines a way to make a name for themselves. After a troubling moment when he witnesses his mother with another man during the Lakbayaw festival, he steps out of his home and follows three adolescents: Memey and brothers Pongke and Dennis. Dennis speaks softly about a burning wish to join the Thugz Angels, a gang anchored in freestyle rap, but his older companions warn that the streets carry real dangers. Later that night, while tagging graffiti, the trio crosses Totoy Turat, a member of the Sacred Brown Tribe who has already fallen on the street. Plainclothes police arrive and arrest Memey, while the others scatter, convinced that Memey is the killer.
The story widens as Makoy, a prominent member of the Sacred Brown Tribe, wakes to his father’s laments about Turat’s death and the looming peril for his son in a gang life. He is soon joined by his friend Ghe-Ghe, and together they seek out Mogs, who brings along Ebet as a witness to confirm Memey’s innocence. The plan is to meet again later at Mogs’ place, while Ebet is instructed to keep an eye on the Diablos, the rival gang suspected of Turat’s killing.
Dennis arrives, his relationship with Katherine hinted at, and Makoy presses him for a meeting with Pongke to forge an alliance between the Sacred Brown Tribe and the Thugz Angels in order to strike back at the Diablos. Ebet visits the Diablos’ hangout after sundown, noting who’s there, then returns to Makoy with what he has learned. Makoy, meanwhile, smuggles a bag of weapons from home and brings it to the Sacred Brown Tribe, aiming to drum up more members for the impending confrontation. The Thugz Angels arrive, led by Pongke, offering some armaments but explaining they cannot fight alongside Memey while he remains incarcerated. The two gangs assemble by Turat’s coffin and freestyle together, as Katherine comes to console Turat’s mother; Makoy instructs Dennis to look after his sister, and the group moves on.
The night escalates into a brutal confrontation as the Sacred Brown Tribe and the Diablos clash directly at the Diablos’ hangout. The S.B.T. are outmatched, and Mogs, Ghe-Ghe, and Makoy are killed, while the surviving members retreat in disarray. Ebet, still unseen, seizes Makoy’s gun and disappears into the shadows. Elsewhere, Dennis, who had been flirting with Katherine, bids her farewell as she boards a jeepney on the way to work. The Diablos, catching Dennis alone, stab him in the street before fleeing. Pongke, furious at the death of his brother, begins a relentless hunt for the Diablos, killing them in retribution.
Back at home, Ebet hides from the police, only to stumble upon his mother in a intimate moment with another man. He brandishes Makoy’s gun and strides into his mother’s bedroom, leaving the ending shrouded in a tense, unsettling silence.
