Trap Street

Li Qiuming works as a digital map-making surveyor for a city in Southern China. In his spare time, he quietly helps private clients install CCTV cameras in places he has identified on his maps. This dual life foreshadows the tension between surveillance and personal pursuit that drives the plot.

One day he spots Guan Lifen and, gathering courage, tells her about his hobbies and his job. She seems uninterested at first, but Li persists, and his infatuation begins to grow.

Li offers Guan a ride in his car, hoping to spend more time with her. After dropping her off, he discovers a small box containing a memory stick and resolves to return it as soon as possible.

A man arrives later to collect the memory stick and asks Li for his home address so he can thank him properly. The encounter hints at danger and a deeper mystery behind the ordinary drop-off.

While searching for Guan, Li finds an unlabelled street named Forest Lane and sees Guan entering a mysterious building called Lab 23. He seems to encounter her again, and she appears slightly more interested this time.

In a later meeting, Li gives Guan a satellite navigation device for her car, which impresses her and makes their budding friendship seem more real.

When Guan goes missing again, Li tries to locate her by examining his digital map and the CCTV images from nearby cameras. He pursues the leads with a mix of hope and anxiety.

Li is stunned to discover that Forest Lane has disappeared from his map, and the corresponding CCTV footage is unobtainable. The trail of evidence seems to be erased.

In a bar, Guan appears reluctant to talk to Li and shows little interest in his efforts to locate her. The mood darkens as Li tries to press for answers but receives only evasive responses.

As the conversation stalls, Li himself suddenly disappears from the bar, leaving Guan and the audience with a growing sense of danger behind Lab 23 and Forest Lane.

The sequence of events hints at a larger conspiracy surrounding Lab 23, the missing Forest Lane, and the altered map data. Li and Guan's fates become entangled in a web of secrets.

The narrative ends with Li's disappearance, leaving Guan's status unclear and Lab 23 shrouded in mystery. Viewers are left with questions about what really happened to Li and why the street vanished.
