Returning to Prague, circus magician Pasparte meets his dying partner, who entrusts him with the partner’s daughter Aloisie. They stay at the Blue Fish boarding house, run by widow Evžénie, with whom Pasparte shares a room. Jealous, Evžénie has Pasparte send Aloisie to photographer Jakub Kolenatý. Pasparte aims to open Prague’s first permanent Czech cinema, screening original Czech films.
