Thillu Mullu

A graduate with no relatives, Chandran sets out to find his first job. The doctor and family friend counsels him on how to present himself. He prepares to apply to Sriramachandramurthy's import-export company and hopes for a fresh start.

The doctor explains a set of habits and looks that Chandran must adopt to please a conservative boss. He emphasizes the mustache, the Nehru jacket, speaking his full name, and showing respect for parents. Chandran follows the plan to improve his chances for employment.

Chandran attends the interview at Sriramachandramurthy's company and impresses the boss with his transformed persona. He is hired immediately, securing his first job. The arrangement hinges on presenting the traditional values the boss respects.

Chandran pretends his mother is ill to take leave and escapes to watch a football match. Sriramachandramurthy attends the match as well and notices his absence later. The deception begins to complicate his new life.

To avoid his boss's anger, Chandran fabricates a story about meeting a moustache-less twin named Indran at the stadium. He borrows from a film his friend Nagesh is shooting to sell the tale. Sriramachandramurthy buys the lie and feels remorse for accusing him.

Chandran leads a double life: as a sincere employee under his own name and as Indran teaching music to Sarojini. The arrangement pulls Sarojini closer to Indran, who is really Chandran in disguise. The romance complicates Chandran's credibility and sets up a web of secrets.

A house worker named Kattabomman discovers Chandran's secret and begins blackmailing him. Chandran must constantly manage the risk of exposure as his two identities coexist. The pressure mounts as the boss remains unaware of the deception.

With Nagesh's help, Chandran recruits Meenakshi Duraiswamy, a wealthy socialite, to pose as Chandran's widowed mother. The deception is meant to placate Sriramachandramurthy and facilitate Sarojini's acceptance. The ruse creates new complications as the truth remains hidden.

Chandran finally tells Sarojini the truth about Indran and the double life. Sarojini's friend urges him to reveal everything to Sriramachandramurthy, but he hesitates to do so. The confession begins to untangle the web of lies around them.

Chandran, with Sarojini, goes to confront Sriramachandramurthy. Kattabomman pressures him further by demanding 5,000 rupees, which Chandran cannot pay. The revelation of the moustache twist becomes the focus of the confrontation.

Sriramachandramurthy, convinced he is chasing Indran, pursues Chandran across the city in a reckless car chase. In the chaos, Uma appears to be injured, though in reality this is part of the ruse to test him. The chase pushes the plot toward a breaking point.

Sriramachandramurthy faces a courtroom-like monologue from Charuhasan, who is actually an actor hired by Chandran. The supposed legal action against him is staged to push him toward admitting the truth. Uma's injury also proves to be a fabrication in the larger deception.

All the main characters gather and reveal the truth to Sriramachandramurthy. Overwhelmed, he locks himself in a room and returns with his moustache shaved, realizing the trouble it caused. He contemplates the consequences of his gullibility and the lies that surrounded him.

In a final, symbolic moment, Sriramachandramurthy prays to Muruga, who transforms into Ganesha and apologizes for fooling him. The film closes with a note of reconciliation and a renewed understanding of appearances and honesty.
