In an unnamed Latin American country similar to Mexico, the government fights a rural insurgency with torture, rape and murder. Soldiers block a town, cutting rebels off from a hidden ammo cache. A grandfather carries a violin to cross a checkpoint. The officer lets him pass but orders a daily music lesson, making the violin an act of resistance.
