Based on the real story of poet Ibrahim Kadir, who portrays himself, the film follows his arrest and imprisonment in 1960s Aceh amid Indonesia’s anti‑communist purge. Kadir, a survivor of the mass killings that claimed between 500,000 and two million lives, reflects on the silencing of dissent through poetry.
