The Entity

That night, Carla Moran is violently raped in her Los Angeles bungalow by an invisible assailant. The assault occurs while her children sleep nearby, leaving her shaken and terrified. When it ends, the house feels charged with a malevolent presence.

A surge of unexplained poltergeist activity disrupts Carla's home. Fearing for her safety, Carla, with her children, flees to her best friend Cindy Nash's house. The activity follows them, forcing a temporary separation from their familiar surroundings.

Carla returns to her house with her children. The following day, her car unexpectedly loses power in traffic, nearly causing a fatal crash. The incident heightens her fear that the haunting is turning physical.

Carla meets psychiatrist Dr. Sneiderman and tentatively agrees to therapy. He admits uncertainty about whether the experiences are real or psychogenic but promises to keep an open mind for her sake.

Another violent attack occurs in Carla's bathroom, leaving bite marks and bruises. She presents the marks to Dr. Sneiderman, who remains skeptical that they are self-inflicted yet admits the injuries are not easy to explain.

Carla explains a history of molestation, teenage pregnancy, and the violent death of her first husband. Dr. Sneiderman notes these traumas but remains cautious, suggesting that psychological factors could be at play while keeping her case under observation.

That night, the entity attacks again, this time in front of Carla's children. Her son attempts to intervene but is struck by electrical discharges, breaking his wrist and deepening the family's fear.

Dr. Weber holds a staff meeting and argues that the Moran events arise from a mass delusion linked to Carla's damaged psyche and sexual frustration. His belief clashes with Carla's hope that the events may be real.

During the night, the entity manipulates Carla to reproduce physical sensations, effectively raping her while she sleeps. The episode compounds her fear and makes her question her own sanity.

Sneiderman urges Carla to admit herself for hospital observation to keep her safe. She resists, and tensions rise when he implies incestuous feelings toward her son, further straining trust between them.

After Cindy witnesses another attack, Carla agrees to let two parapsychologists study the Moran home. They witness several supernatural events and decide to take the case seriously, expanding the investigation.

Dr. Cooley leads the team as they monitor the home for manifestations. During the early study, Carla's boyfriend Jerry visits and experiences being held down and fondled by the unseen force, ending their relationship.

The team stages an elaborate mock-up of Carla's home to lure the entity into a trap and freezes it with liquid helium. The entity fights back, but Carla refuses to surrender, declaring that it will never have her.

The helium trap fails to permanently destroy the entity, but Dr. Cooley believes Carla's testimony remains valid. Carla returns home, but a demonic voice enters and greets her; she and her family decide to move to Texas. Although attacks continue, they occur less frequently.
