The Cranes’ home sits near a planned TVA reservoir, a detail that highlights the tension between local life and outside interests. A meteorite-derived mutagenic liquid seeps into the Cranes' well, altering water at a molecular level. The altered liquid disrupts metabolism, turning crops, livestock, and people into threats. The film uses the water source as a conduit for horror, showing how something as ordinary as a drink can become deadly. This contamination catalyzes fear, violence, and chaos across the farm.

🏚️ Small-Town Denial
