The Wolf’s Call

The Titan sails near the Mediterranean coast of Tartus, Syria, to stealthily recover a French Special Forces unit. Captain Grandchamp commands the operation with XO D'Orsi while Chanteraide, the onboard sonar expert, analyzes underwater contacts.

Socks initially classifies the contact as a wounded whale, but it proves to be a Timour III ballistic submarine. The contact transmissions reach an Iranian frigate and a maritime helicopter, intensifying the encounter in the area.

The helicopter and allied units respond with depth charges, and the Titan tries to evade the barrage. The submarine surfaces after the exchange, revealing the clash is framed as a defensive action in the context of Syrian waters.

Captain Grandchamp shoots down the helicopter with a Panzerfaust 3. They recover the Special Forces unit and return to base, completing the immediate objective of the mission.

Back at base, radio news reports Russia's invasion of Finland's Åland Islands and France's plan to deploy a naval task force to the Baltic. Russia also threatens nuclear retaliation, setting a tense political backdrop for the mission.

Chanteraide hacks into his superior's computer and, through naval archives, begins to piece together the true identity of the contact. He also starts a romantic relationship with Diane after meeting her at a bookstore.

Grandchamp is promoted to command Formidable, while D'Orsi takes over command of Titan. The two ships now operate under new leadership as the broader strategic situation escalates.

The Formidable is launched with its new captain, and Titan serves as its escort submarine as the fleet prepares for worsening tensions with the Timour III threat and broader conflict.

During roll call, Grandchamp reveals he has failed a drug test and will not board Formidable. An air raid siren then forces staff to seek shelter in a bunker as the crisis deepens.

The French command detects a Russian R-30 ballistic missile launch from Timour III in the Bering Sea, prompting the French President to order Formidable to launch a nuclear missile against Russia, escalating the crisis to a potential nuclear exchange.

The Chief of Staff is delayed as the Secretary of State reveals critical intelligence: Al-Jadida illicitly purchased the decommissioned Timour III and launched an empty missile to trick France into a nuclear counterstrike.

ALFOST and Chanteraide are flown to the Titan to stop the launch by all means. They coordinate with the Titan crew while Formidable prepares for action against the threat.

D'Orsi attempts to reach out to Formidable via underwater comms to stop Grandchamp's plan, but Grandchamp launches a torpedo at Titan, killing D'Orsi. Titan fires its own torpedo toward Formidable, initiating a deadly exchange between the submarines.

Titan's torpedo explodes near Formidable's bridge, and Grandchamp releases ballast to avoid a direct hit. Formidable's torpedo hits Titan, which begins to sink, while the surviving crew evacuates the control room. Chanteraide is rescued and later attends a submarine memorial, reuniting with Diane.
