A newspaper assigns a young reporter, Igor, to the remote Russian countryside to turn odd local tales into a sensational story. He stays with an isolated peasant family near a ruined church, who are convinced their dead patriarch will rise as a blood‑drinking vampire exactly nine and a half days after his death.
