The Red Spectacles

In the summer of 1995 a strange new era known as the “Age of Cats” forces the dissolution of Tokyo’s ultra‑violent police squad, the Kerberos unit. The city, once gripped by a relentless war against crime, now hums with a quiet, almost forgotten tension. Streets that once echoed with the clatter of armored boots have slipped into a surreal tableau of decay and dream‑like stillness, where the ordinary feels curiously foreign and the neon glow casts long, uncertain shadows.

Koichi Todome, a former member of the disbanded force, returns to the headquarters he abandoned three years earlier. No longer bound by a commander’s orders, he drifts through the altered metropolis like a lone stray dog, guided only by an enigmatic presence known as the Young Lady of Fate. Their brief encounter hints at a path that lies somewhere between redemption and resignation, offering a faint compass in a landscape that resists logic.

The film balances stark visual austerity with moments of dark, off‑beat humor, creating a tone that feels both oppressive and oddly whimsical.
