Set in Japan in February 1868, as the Tokugawa shogunate collapses and Emperor Meiji’s authority expands, Gonzo, a soldier fighting for the Restoration, travels back to his native village of Sawando. There he seeks to inform the residents and rally them against the lingering tyranny of the old regime.
