The Prophet, the Gold, and the Transylvanians

The mining town of Cedar City is ruled by a Mormon prophet named Walthrope, his son the town marshal, and their band of ruffians. They intimidate miners and tightly control prices and access to gold.

John Brad is falsely accused of shooting a gunfighter sent by the prophet. He must flee Cedar City to avoid a brutal punishment and clear his name.

A train arrives with Jeff Groghan, a veteran gunfighter, and two Transylvanian immigrants Traian and Romulus Brad who come to meet their brother John. Traian speaks Romanian, adding language tension to their mission.

Groghan is met with a gunfight at the station while Traian fires his Turkish rifle later in a saloon. Traian wins money from Groghan and from Bob, the slave of a Confederate officer, during a high stakes poker game.

The Brads explain they are seeking John and the prophet arrives with limited English. The Brads are judged by a drunk Dolittle and sentenced to hanging, but the prophet intervenes and takes them to his farm to work as farm hands.

The Brads and Bob escape from the prophet's farm and settle in a hut beneath a Romanian flag. There they fish and eventually discover gold nuggets.

John Brad tries to organize the miners to challenge the prophet's control, but the prophet ships their gold to Salt Lake City and the miners prefer to keep things as they are.

Walthrope's men assault a man and his daughter, and John Brad comes to their rescue. This strengthens the alliance between John and the Brads.

John and the rescued girl reach the Brads' hut and join forces with Traian and Romulus to defend their community against the prophet's band. They realize they must work together to resist exploitation and protect their new home.

The group plans to stop the party carrying miners' gold stolen by the Mormons and to reclaim what belongs to the miners. They coordinate a counterattack against the raiders.

In a climactic gunfight, the Brads and their allies defend the miners' camp against Walthrope and his band, succeeding in driving them away and reclaiming the gold. The victory signals a turning point for Cedar City's future and the miners' livelihood.

Walthrope is captured and the Brads, Bob, and the girl ride into the sunset, signaling a new balance for Cedar City. Their triumph leaves the town hopeful for a future free from exploitation.
