Filmed in black‑and‑white on a low budget in 1960s Greenwich Village, this beatnik picture feels improvised. After a bank robbery leaves one wounded thief, he is taken in by a group that shelters him in a coffee‑house loft run by Mason and café owner. Though the heist starts the plot, the film becomes a character study of the bohemian artists.
