In the thick monsoon‑soaked jungles of 1942 Burma, a seven‑man British sonic‑deception unit is tasked with recording the natural sounds of the forest, hoping that a fabricated acoustic portrait will mislead the advancing enemy. Sheltered for a night in a cramped hut carved out of an abandoned tin mine, the patrol moves deeper into a landscape where every rustle and distant echo could be a signal, a warning, or a trap. Their objective is simple in theory—create a false auditory picture of a front line—but the reality is tangled with mud, rain, and the ever‑present hum of an unseen war.

The group’s internal chemistry is as volatile as the tropical storm that surrounds them. Private Bamforth carries a cynical edge, constantly mocking the banter that erupts among his comrades, while Corporal Johnstone asserts a bullying authority that keeps the men on edge. Sergeant Mitchem attempts to hold the unit together with a rigid sense of duty, and Lance‑Corporal Mac teeters between loyalty and frustration, often snapping under the pressure. Other personalities—Taff, Whittaker, and Smudge—add their own shades of nervous humor and weary resilience, creating a fragile camaraderie that crackles like static in the oppressive humidity.
