The Librarian: Quest for the Spear

Flynn is kicked out of college by Professor Harris, who says he needs real-life experience. They have just completed a 1/20th scale model of the great pyramid with a gold capstone, and Harris hints that Flynn’s 23rd degree will come later. With no class options for months, his mother worries that he is wasting his life.

Flynn receives an invitation to interview for a prestigious position at the Metropolitan Public Library. He is hired as a Librarian, a guardian of historical and magical artifacts stored in a secret space beneath the library. He learns the job entails protecting legendary items such as Pandora's Box and Excalibur nearby.

Three parts of the Spear of Destiny exist, and one is stolen by Wilde and the Serpent Brotherhood. Flynn learns that whoever controls all three pieces can steer the fate of the world. He is the only one on Earth who can track down the remaining two fragments.

Judson explains the stakes and the danger to the world if the spear is completed. He notes that Flynn’s predecessor died and that Flynn must pursue the missing fragments. Flynn accepts the mission and prepares to travel.

With only his mind and a book written in the Language of the Birds, Flynn heads toward the Amazon jungle. He travels by plane, following clues that blend myth and text. The journey marks the start of his real life adventure.

Serpent Brotherhood ambushes the plane and attempts to seize Flynn. He is rescued by Nicole Noone, a Library Guardian who has been sent to help him. Nicole regroups with a cool reserve, having fallen in love with the last Librarian and blaming herself for his death.

Together they survive Amazonian waterfalls and Maya traps and retrieve the second spear piece. They are captured by the Serpent Brotherhood and Wilde is about to shoot Nicole when Flynn intervenes and makes a deal to find the last piece in exchange for Nicole's life.

In Shangri-La, the Himalayas, Flynn learns their arrival was prophesied and retrieves the last blade. The temple begins to collapse as monks battle the Serpent Brotherhood, and Flynn and Nicole escape by helicopter.

They reach a hotel where Nicole orders champagne, and Flynn wakes to find Nicole, the spear blade, and his clothes missing. Judson contacts him via a TV in the lobby and explains the conditions to join the spear parts—a golden capstone pyramid and an electromagnetic field during a full moon. Flynn realizes that Harris is in on the scheme.

Judson meets Flynn outside the university building where the pyramid was reconstructed; when Flynn asks where the Marines are, Judson flashes a tattoo and replies Semper Fi. They watch as the Serpent Brothers, including Harris, assemble to witness Wilde call down the ancient powers and fuse the spear into one.

Wilde stabs one of his men, absorbing life force through the spear, and moves toward Nicole. Flynn tackles him and frees Nicole. Nicole and Judson take on the Brotherhood while Flynn follows Wilde; the spear strikes stone and the pyramid shakes. Flynn leads Wilde to damage the support stones, causing the capstone to fall onto Wilde and kill him.

Judson and Nicole stand in a room full of unconscious people. Flynn reclaims the spear in the name of the Library, where it is displayed near Excalibur. Flynn draws the sword from its stone, and a portrait in the Librarian gallery shows him holding the Spear.

Three months later, Flynn is at a cafe when Nicole informs him that the Deadly Scorpion League has a time machine. They take off, pursued by four members of the cult, setting up another adventure for the Librarian.
