The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time

Gil vanishes because the time-travel energy is unstable. According to Gil's holographic recording, each person can only travel through time once; any additional trips erase the traveler from existence. Gil had already used his one jump to leave the recording, so when Fin arrived, Gil was erased from the timeline.

Bryan transforms into a woman due to temporal shifts caused by unstable time travel. When the team arrives in Camelot, the chaotic nature of their jumps through time has altered Bryan's biology, temporarily changing his gender. He reverts to his male form after the team completes their mission in the Revolutionary War era.

Nova deliberately sabotages the capacitor's target to travel to 1997 because she wants to save her grandfather from a fatal shark attack that originally killed him. She successfully saves him but dies in the process, along with April. This sacrifice is her choice to prevent her family's tragedy, even knowing it would cost her life.

Robot April, having survived previous timeline disruptions, travels to the year 20013 where she finds a ruined world. Over thousands of years, she builds an army of flying sharks and clones, eventually conquering the post-apocalyptic Earth. Her timeline experience and technological capabilities allow her to become a powerful ruler who opposes Fin's mission to restore history.

The timenado is a catastrophic phenomenon created when Robot April's future self arrives to steal the time capacitor. Her attempt to take the device tears at the fabric of reality, creating a temporal vortex that combines a sharknado with time disruption. This pulse causes reality to break down across history, threatening the existence of all timelines.

The time capacitor is a device built into Gil's flight badge that stabilizes time-travel energy. It was researched by Gil with guidance from Merlin across history. The capacitor must be calibrated to a specific time period to jump; however, it's unstable and can misfire, sending travelers to the wrong era, as happens when they land in 20013 instead of their intended destination.

Excalibur is supplied to Fin by the past version of Gil, specifically designed to combat sharknadoes across time. The sword possesses the magical properties needed to blast through the storm, likely enhanced by Merlin's knowledge of temporal sharknado warfare. Fin wields it to destroy the Medieval-era sharknado and trigger their jump to the next time period.

Robot April's head helps Fin destroy her future self by triggering a nuclear failsafe that destroys both the sharknado and repairs the fabric of time. This collapses the broken timeline and creates a new, corrected universe where the Shepard family and friends are alive, April is pregnant with Gil, and the sharknado threat never occurred.

In the restored timeline, April is pregnant with Gil because the events that would have prevented or altered his conception no longer occurred. The timeline reset restored the original fate of the Shepard family, allowing Fin and April to have their son Gil naturally, as indicated by the happy ending where they run a bar together.

The timeline reset appears to have altered Skye's life trajectory significantly. In the new timeline, Skye has become a politician rather than continuing her previous occupation as Fin's ex-girlfriend in the Old West. This change reflects how the restored timeline creates different life paths for all the characters.

Nova is alive in the final scene because the timeline reset erased the events where she sacrificed herself. When Fin destroys the timenado and repairs reality, the new timeline is created before Nova's sacrifice in 1997 ever occurred. This restores her to life alongside everyone else, and she works with Fin and April at their bar.

Robot April's head, which was lost at sea in the original timeline, ends up in the future timeline. Despite being a version of April that became a conqueror, her head chooses to help Fin because the destructive timeline represents a corruption of what she could have been. She aids him in destroying her future self to restore a better timeline.
