The Killing Tree (2022) Plot Summary Explained

Widow Morrigan was once part of a deadly duo known for their heinous acts, as they murdered several families during Christmas, believing they were punishing those who failed to understand the true significance of the holiday. Her husband, Clayton Slayter, was ultimately caught and faced justice after committing the brutal act of taking the life of a family connected to a young girl named Faith, who managed to escape and inform the authorities. In a twist of love and loyalty, Clayton accepted full responsibility for the crimes, taking the blame for Morrigan.

As the story unfolds, one year later, Morrigan is determined to resume their nefarious work. She embarks on a dark journey, performing a satanic ritual in an attempt to resurrect Clayton. However, unbeknownst to her, the ritual goes awry, and instead of returning as a human, he is reincarnated as a plastic Christmas tree, an object Morrigan had used during the ceremony. This horrifying twist incites Clayton's rage, leading him to kill Morrigan in a moment driven by fury at his new existence.

The tree eventually reaches the party and launches its vicious assault. In the climactic moments, Faith finds herself as the sole survivor. Just when it seems all hope is lost, the spirits of her parents manifest in the form of a giant white tree, conjuring flames that incinerate the evil Christmas tree to mere ashes, all the while gazing at Faith with fierce, fiery eyes.

After this chaotic confrontation, Faith succumbs to unconsciousness. Upon regaining awareness, she discovers she is nestled among her friends, leading her to believe she may have imagined the entire horrific ordeal.
